Planning washer, dryer or fridge installation in Vancouver? A new appliance needs more than a space to fit into. Water, drain, vent and electrical connections, clearances and levelling should be checked against the manufacturer's instructions. Call Home Mend to discuss your setup and confirm the installation work available for your appliance before booking.
Check the condition and fit of the hot and cold water hoses, shut-off valves and drain hose. The drain height and hose position must suit the model. A level machine with the shipping hardware removed helps limit vibration, especially in condo laundry closets.
Confirm whether the dryer is gas or electric, whether the electrical supply suits the model, and whether the vent can connect without being crushed. Allow space for safe airflow and use a manufacturer-approved kit for stacked appliances. Gas connections require an appropriately licensed professional.
Measure the doorway and appliance space, allow the specified ventilation clearances, and level the cabinet so the doors seal correctly. Models with an ice maker or water dispenser also need a suitable water line, accessible shut-off valve and a leak check.
Repair can be worthwhile when the appliance otherwise works well, parts are available, and the fault is limited to a component such as a belt, pump, seal or heating element. Replacement may make more sense when there are repeated failures, extensive damage, unavailable parts, or a repair estimate close to the total cost of a suitable replacement and installation.
